This summer, Adelphi Research conducted a self-funded post-conference survey following the American Diabetes Association (ADA) 2026 conference in New Orleans. We captured agile insights from healthcare professionals on what generated the most excitement, drove engagement and could influence future clinical practice.
American Diabetes Association (ADA) 2026
Our survey reveals the key trends shaping diabetes and obesity care, and which companies, sessions and products generated the most interest among attendees.
Conference Buzz
Eli Lilly and Novo Nordisk dominated the conversation at ADA 2026, reflecting continued GLP-1 innovation in metabolic health. Merck, Pfizer and Amgen also generated notable interest among healthcare professionals.
Session Engagement
Sessions focused on next-generation diabetes and obesity treatments attracted the highest levels of engagement. Retatrutide (Eli Lilly) and Amylin (Novo Nordisk), were of key interest for HCPs attending ADA. The highest rated sessions included:
- “Unlocking the Next Frontier in Treatment of Obesity and Type 2 Diabetes with Retatrutide”
- “Amylin as a Novel Diabetes and Obesity Therapy”
- “Obesity Year in Review: Major Advances and Discoveries”
These findings highlight the rapidly evolving diabetes landscape, with the new generation of GLP-1 products quickly approaching launch, and already creating a huge level of interest.
Product Excitement
Retatrutide generated the highest level of product excitement among attendees at ADA 2026.
Other products generating significant interest included:
- Foundayo (orforglipron)
- CagriSema (cagrilintide/semaglutide)
- Wegovy pill (semaglutide)
The results demonstrate strong healthcare professional interest in the next wave of diabetes and obesity treatments, particularly with the oral innovation, and advent of next generation GLP-1 molecules.
What This Means
Major conferences such as ADA 2026 don’t just showcase the latest research. They provide an early indication of where clinical practice and market dynamics may be heading. ADA 2026 showed a clear interest toward the new oral (Foundayo and Wegovy pill) and next generation injectable (CagriSema Retatrutide) products, showing a huge leap in both diabetes and obesity management. Interestingly, ADA 2026 also represented an evolution from a purely diabetes focus meeting, with the ongoing medicalisation of obesity in firm focus.
Adelphi Research’s approach to conference surveys goes beyond just capturing leading indicators but partners with pharmaceutical and healthcare organisations to translate these developments into their strategies, helping to position their own brands in this lively metabolic space.
