2020 was a strange year, filled with unexpected challenges. Despite all the uncertainty, our team really pulled together, adapted and continued to deliver projects to the highest standards in the ‘new normal’.

We had some great achievements along the way, developing and growing as a business through such an unprecedented time.

The major challenge which we all faced was getting used to a new way of working. We were proud to maintain our commitment to creativity and innovation, and our team was quick to adapt, offering a range of remote solutions without compromising on quality.

Conferences and training

Throughout the year, our team presented at over ten industry events, conferences and training sessions, including BHBIA, EphMRA, IIEX, PMRC, ESMO and ASCO. One or our highlights was our own Ratna Wynn and Erin Darragh presenting our qualitative solution, ChatBots and how YOU can leverage them to reveal the missing link in treatment decisions at IIEX. We were also delighted to win the BHBIA BOBI Compliance Challenge Award in collaboration with GKA and Sanofi.

Team growth

2020 marked the appointment of two senior positions – Ratna Wynn was promoted to Executive Vice President, Adelphi Research US office and Elizabeth Kehler was promoted to Managing Director, Adelphi Research UK office. The year brought team growth across both offices with 44 internal promotions and 20 new hires, as well as the continuation of our flagship therapy area excellence teams in Oncology, Immunology and Neurology. As part of our new hires we also expanded our US senior team with the addition of Dawn Palace and Wendy Martin.

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Initiative

We conducted many activities this year as part of our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Initiative, including personal gender pronoun use across our team and revising the collection of gender/sex information in our surveys. Resources were provided to all team members relating to the BLM movement, and we were encouraged to take a day away from the virtual office to reflect on how we personally could help and contribute.

Supporting charities and local communities

We also focused on supporting charities and our local communities in the UK and US. Donations were made to foodbanks, volunteer time off was used to support charities through such a difficult year, and internal fundraising initiatives supported smaller local charities. A few of the charities which Adelphi Research has supported this year include: American Heart Association, Autism Cares Foundation, Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, East Cheshire Hospice, St Johns Ambulance, Manna on Main Street, East Cheshire Eye Society and Silk Life Food Bank.

A ‘hug in a box’ for employees

Our team has shown fantastic adaptability to working from home and the way we work with clients whilst maintaining the highest of standards. As a thank you, we sent each employee a ‘hug in a box’ which included different gifts to make these unprecedented times that little bit easier.

The restrictions didn’t stop us from letting our hair down and getting together. We enjoyed an online cheese and wine tasting evening and finished the year off on a well-deserved high!

Thank you to our clients and partners who supported us in 2020. We look forward to continuing to work with you this year.
