Today, Adelphi Research invited everyone in the team as well as the wider Adelphi Group to join us in raising money for Rare Disease Day.
We decided to set up several different fundraising activities to help raise money for the event.
These activities included a bake sale selling homemade cakes, biscuits and other goodies that were made using “rare” ingredients. There was also a quiz which was based around all things rare and less well-known. Finally, we created a large poster with the Rare Disease logo. The goal of which was to get this filled with 100 painted handprints. The fundraising events were opened up to the other companies within Adelphi Group, helping to raise internal awareness of the day as well as money for a great cause.
Rare Disease Day takes place on the last day of February every year with the goal of raising awareness on Rare Diseases and how they impact on patients lives.
1 in 20 people will live with a rare disease at some point in their life so raising awareness is important. For the majority of Rare Diseases there is no cure, and many go undiagnosed. Rare Disease Day improves knowledge amongst the general public of rare diseases while encouraging researchers and decision makers to address the needs of those living with rare diseases.
